Talking trees

This weekend was all about the leaves.

DSC_0189_01.JPG

Everywhere I went, they were letting go, sailing down on a light breeze, tangling in my clothes and hair.

It was so refreshing to be surrounded by all that dancing yellow, I just couldn’t help giving them a hand.

dsc_0227_01

It was cloudy, but the forest was alive with red and yellow.

Like walking through a portal to another world.

Chasing feathers

I was supposed to photograph the view, but this feather caught all my attention, sailing along on the water.

The lake looked so calm, but the feather floated so quickly, almost too quickly for me to follow.

The evening sun shone from a softly cloudy sky, and the feather bathed in the golden light.

Finally, it landed on some stones, and I could snap all the pictures I wanted.

Arrival

This weekend, we escaped to the countryside again. It’s only an hour from home, but the autumn is much further gone, and the cabin was really cold. It’s a kind of ritual, to light the candles, stoke the stove and get a fire going. Quickly, quickly, before you freeze to death.

Next project, dinner preparations. Violent ones!

Every time we’re here, I take pictures, and they’re always identical. Same thing, every time. And that’s what I love about it. The routine. Like a movie you’ve seen a hundred times.

Busy background

I don’t know, something about this chaotic copse appealed to me. 🙂 As if there’s a method to the madness, because of the uniform, pale greyish brown of the trunks and branches. Even though it’s busy, it’s also kind of serene or something.

Close up, it was really geometrical.

dsc_0251

Just small splashes of colour amid the bare twigs. I like it.

Golden leaves and leaden skies

Autumn is like treasure you never knew was there. Once the trees are full on summer green, they sort of disappear into each other, but autumn, wow… it brings out each and every leaf.

Tonight the sky was perfect, too – thunderous and bright at the same time.

On the other side, the sky was an innocent blue.

dsc_0267

This view has been kind of boring throughout summer. Not so anymore.

Found a new spot! 🙂 This is where I’ll be sitting with a thermos of coffee on a misty morning not too far away.

dsc_0292_01

PS. I’m reeeeally starting to love my new Nikon 50mm f1,8…

These damn swans

Or should I say, “This damn telezoom that’s all I could afford and that’s NOT living up to any kind of expectations”?

Weeell, never mind. Photography is more than crispness (I’m told, but…). And it’s not the lens’s fault that I stubbornly left the ISO on 100. But oh, how I would have wished this one to be sharp!

But who knows, maybe in a while, I’ll even think these are quite nice, with that Constable vibe they’ve got going.

Morning fog

I got up early again, because I missed yesterday’s spectacular dawn with gravlax pink and gold shining through the bus window. But when I reached the hill where I’d planned to snap my pictures, I was just too foggy. Made for some atmospheric shots of the woods, though.

dsc_0014_01

These are some interesting geese. They’ve been following the swans around the pond for weeks now. As soon as the swans move, so do the geese!

The sun finally rose over the misty hills. Here seen peeking at a sleeping lorry.
